Underwater Dance / The Ecological Body
Underwater Dance / The Ecological Body
The Ecological Body:
Underwater dance
Flow through Contact Improvisation/ Tango & Tai Chi elements
Berlin Workshop + Jam
December 16-17
Flow is a defining characteristic of a relaxed movement. It defines a dynamic organicity that is easily perceived in animals. Through playful experiences and creative images we will explore this concept in studio and in water.
The mix of Contact Impro, tango and Tai Chi elements provide a focus to explore and revitalise a rich variety of movements. On the other hand, these relational dances when practiced in water, amplify a sensual trust and playfulness, making the learning process easier.
WE WILL:
nurture a better dialogue between tension and relaxation taking advantage of water’s anti gravitational characteristic, allowing ourselves to let go of the fear of falling
develop our spirals to nurture the multidimensional possibilities of our bodies and apply them in lifts, rolls and grounding
we will enable the concept of “flow” to get physically and emotionally impressed in our bodies with the aid of the water experience
enhance our instinctual reflexes reconciling them with the limits of our structural anatomical design,
broaden the subtleness of our sensory motor system through touch and breath
develop different body organisations by expanding our physical imagination,
reclaim our bodies enhancing our sensoriality and our empathic connection with others, in duos, trios and groups.
This workshop forms part of the broader “Body Ecology” project. In it, ecological concepts inspire different possibilities to feel and heal our psico physical being, by perceiving ourselves as part of a wider web of relations.

This workshop is open to people of all experiences interested in movement creation as a path of knowledge, healing, communication and personal enrichment.
